As an island in the center of the Mediterranean Sea, blessed with beautiful natural harbours and history in maritime affairs, it is imperative to look closer at the legislations encompassing this area. In this session, we will look from a Value Added Tax (VAT) and Accounting sector. Specifically on the former:
- The peculiar place of supply rules
- A look at how VAT is calculated
- The necessary VAT compliance and administrative requirements
- Other ancillary matters relating to this topic
Moreover, on the latter, we will also look at how the transition to the new lease standard of IFRS 16 impacts this industry by defining the basic concepts of IFRS 16 and by identifying the challenges faced in applying this new standard to such a volatile industry.
