In Malta, SMEs play a vital role in the economy by driving employment, spurring innovation, and contributing to overall economic growth. Understanding their significance is essential for creating a resilient and sustainable business landscape. Additionally, company valuation offers crucial insights to shareholders, particularly concerning the intrinsic value of the organisation. This information is pivotal for making key decisions in areas, such as exit strategies and mergers and acquisitions.
This presentation will explore how SMEs are valued, focusing on valuation techniques, such as the income approach and the market approach. These methodologies, along with available information sources, will be discussed in detail. Moreover, practical examples will be provided to demonstrate the application and calculation of an organisation’s value according to these methods.
