As COVID-19 fast developing pace continues globally, the pandemic is presenting entities with several challenges. The various implemented internal and external measures will impact business and economic activities in an unprecedented manner. As the extent and duration of COVID-19 continues to increase it may have accounting implications for many entities.

Financial records should reflect the latest status of organisations and different events will lead to different accounting implications and challenges when applying various accounting standards.

What are the financial reporting implications of COVID-19? In this seminar we will examine the impact of COVID-19 on financial reporting.

Matthew Spiteri is a certified public accountant. He is a member of the Malta Institute of Accountants and graduated from the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA). In 2019 he also received his ACCA Diploma in International Financial Reporting and is presently a manager within the Outsourcing Department at RSM Malta. He leads a portfolio of clients in their accounting and VAT compliance assignments and has 11 years of accounting experience.


Roberta West Falzon is a certified public accountant and holds a practising certificate in auditing. She graduated in Bachelor of Commerce and Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons) Degrees from the University of Malta and is a fellow member of the Malta Institute of Accountants. Roberta was also awarded the ACCA Diploma in International Financial Reporting. She is a senior audit manager at RSM Malta leading several audit assignments for national and international clients operating in different fields. Roberta also delivers technical and professional training and sits on the MIA Financial Reporting Committee.
