The course will focus on the obligations derived from the National Interest (Enabling Powers) Act, which obliges Subject Persons to follow certain policies and procedures related to Sanctions Monitoring. The course will go through the overall obligations together with an understanding of the composition of the Sanctions Monitoring Board. The course will also discuss how sanction monitoring may be done in practice after taking into consideration the factor of proportionality. Furthermore, internal and external reporting obligations will be discussed.

John is also a member of the Malta Association of Compliance Officers (MACO). John occupies positions of MLRO, Data Protection Officer and Compliance Director within tax, accounting and gaming industries. He also lectures on AML & GDPR related topics at the University of Malta and other local institutions.
