This course explores the basic concepts of corporate valuation, including how businesses, equity and enterprise are valued.  Participants will learn and understand the main methods of valuation (intrinsic and relative), their strengths and weaknesses and when to apply each.  Topics to be covered include the following:

  • discounted cash flow;
  • comparable market multiples;
  • comparable transaction multiples;
  • liquidation/terminal value; and
  • the applicability and limitations of each approach.

The course contains practical hands-on exercises that are designed to teach corporate valuation and offer a deeper understanding of the variables used in valuation to help participants make more informed business decisions.

Speaker

Patrick Debattista is a senior Advisory professional with 13 years of experience in Financial Management, Valuations, Corporate Strategy and Taxation.  He is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder and a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) by profession. Patrick read for an Executive Master’s degree in Financial Analysis from the University Carlos III in Madrid (Distinction) and a Bachelor of Accountancy (Honours) degree from the University of Malta.

Patrick teaches various modules at ACCA and post-graduate levels, including MBA and specialised Master’s degree courses.  He is also a visiting lecturer at the University of Malta.
